What does the LinkSecurity setting mean?

Tiger Privacy

The LinkSecurity setting specifies what kind of security there is for all communications between the mail client and Tiger Envelopes, or between Tiger Envelopes and the remote mail server. This is additional protection for the entire conversation, not just the mail messages. LinkSecurity may have 4 values:

Auto means that Tiger will try to use the best security available, which in some cases may mean no security at all. This is the default.

SSL tells Tiger Envelopes to require an SSL connection, and the link will fail if SSL is not available.

TLS says to start the connection with no security, but as soon as possible issue the STARTTLS command. If the remote server does not support STARTTLS or if the STARTTLS command fails, the link will fail.

None specifies no link security at all. Select this option only when you are sure the remote mail server does not support either SSL or STARTTLS, and never will.
