How do I see if Tiger Envelopes
will protect messages I exchange
with someone?

Tiger Privacy

Start the Tiger Envelopes control panel and click on the Keys tab.

If you don't see the individual's email address in the list, ask them to install Tiger Envelopes and send you a message. Reply to them. That's it. Envelopes will automatically exchange keys for both of you. The next time either of you sends a message to the other, it will automatically be private. If the other person is using a different encryption program, you can ask them to send you their key and import it.

If you have multiple programs that can protect your email (e.g., BC, GPG, PGP), then you'll see radio buttons that select the keys by program.
